Enable educators to consider non-academic factors affecting Emergent Bilinguals that may impact student learning and success
In February 2024, SAEBRS became available with the Star Comprehensive Suite. SAEBRS is a social-emotional behavioral (SEB) screener that identifies students at-risk, assessing problem behaviors, as well as resilience and well-being.
While SAEBRS is available for teachers to evaluate students in K-12, mySAEBRS, a companion to SAEBRS, is a student self-assessment that lets students in grades 2-12 evaluate their own behavior. We are excited to share that, in addition to mySAEBRS in English, mySAEBRS in Spanish is now included.
Students now can choose to take the mySAEBRS assessment in the language in which they are more comfortable, as shown below. (The questions’ content is the same in both English and Spanish languages.)
Students answer 20 questions with the Never, Sometimes, Often or Almost Always, rating both positive and negative behaviors. Teachers and students view results and develop a plan to enhance and accelerate student learning and growth.
Research shows that students’ non-academic attributes are associated with their academic performance. Behaviors play a key role in students’ ability to learn and succeed in school and life, and their overall well-being. SAEBRS—including the student rater companion assessment mySAEBRS—helps identify students at risk and pinpoints behavioral strengths and weaknesses so educators can develop a plan to intervene.
